Our self-image is an accumulation of the attitudes and opinions we are fed back to us. We unconsciously (and sometimes even consciously) take on-board each and every comment we're given and reaction we notice. Occasionally, these are presented in the form of formal assessments; mostly, however, they are just the casual, and often quite unconscious, reactions of those we encounter. Indeed, more than we may realise, we are affected by what other people say, their unconscious body language, tone-of-voice and partly-disguised facial expressions.

Collectively, the feedback we receive (and, more importantly, the way we interpret it) helps mould the powerful unconscious pictures we form of ourselves. These pictures go on to dictate how we respond to life and all its various events, profoundly impacting on our relationships, career, financial success, place in society and even our general emotional state. Arguably, our self-image is even more significant than the combined effects of our intellect, our appearance and our up-bringing.

I now offer a six-session, personalised confidence building workshop in which I help my clients on an individual, one-to-one basis. Together we deal with whatever limiting beliefs and negative emotions they may have. They are taught techniques to manage their emotional state and they learn to start perceiving themselves and their world in a way that is appropriate and helpful. Focussing on the unconscious mind as they do, Hypnotherapy and NLP are excellent tools to employ when dealing with both the symptoms and the underlying causes of confidence and self-esteem issues.
